To Our Church Family and Friends
Saturday, March 10th, 2012
Come share an evening with Callie Shanafelt and her dad Fred, long time members as they present a half-hour documentary produced by Callie, followed by a Q and A period.
“The Fountain” is a touching father-daughter story following Callie’s quest to understand her dad’s childhood in a religious cult during the 1950’s near Los Angeles. Her grandparents (Fred’s parents) followed Krishna Venta, a man claiming to be the second coming of Christ, until they were killed by suicide bombers at the cult he led. The film offers unique insight into why one Seattle couple rejected mainstream culture, and the lasting effects of their choice on their children.
We will start with appetizers and a beverage of your choice at 6:30 PM in Bradford (or Fenwick Hall) on Saturday March 10th; and then we’ll enjoy Callie’s documentary. She is trying to enter it in the Seattle International Film Festival, which involves distribution costs. Hopefully those who attend will be able to contribute to this project.
Please add your name to the signup sheet in the Fireside Room and indicate your willingness to bring an appetizer. Feel free to bring friends to this event as some have already asked to do so.
