Communications Commission

The Communications Commission teams with commissions and staff to increase involvement inside the church and generate awareness outside the church.

Internally, our primary focus is the church website, which includes a combined church calendar, online directory, and announcement postings available to anyone who leads a group in the church. Announcements posted to the website naturally flow into the eCall weekly e-mail and church bulletin. We are looking for ways to tweak the system to make internal communication even easier. We also contribute to other communication about internal programs, through brainstorming, posters and brochures.

Externally, our main focus areas are advertising, PR, branding, and the website. We create the church holiday ads, the weekly directory ads in the Redmond and Bellevue Reporters, and the occasional combined UCC ads (such as the thirteen-church ad for the Seattle Men’s Chorus program). We are looking for ways to improve our church visibility through better signage and other awareness-building projects.

Mostly, we are a small, focused team that does a lot for the church without much fanfare. We meet every few months after church for a quick, packed agenda and food, but mostly resolve everything by e-mail or phone calls, quietly tackling the largest issues facing the church through better communication.
